Tracking form conversions helps us, website owners, to get insight into our marketing campaigns. There we learn which campaign drove the most leads.

However, this is pretty tough to set up if we don’t have the right tools and not to mention it’s pretty time-consuming.

But of course, MonsterInsights got a simple solution for you. It automatically tracks all form conversions as events without messing with code and manual goal setup.

You see, every time you publish a lead generation form, you’ll need to configure a goal in Google Analytics and place an extra tracking code on your website.

Yea! That’s pretty confusing and to be honest, I have no idea what I just said but boy am I glad MonsterInsights know what it’s doing.

It makes it really easy for me to track my conversions in Google Analytics.

And I’m going to show you exactly how.

Tracking Form Conversion using MonsterInsights

Step 1. Install and activate the MonsterInsights plugin and connect it to your Google Analytics account.

Step 2. Go to Insights > Add-ons > Install under the Forms add-on. Activate it.

MonsterInsights is now going to automatically record your data and report it to you. This report can be viewed in Insights > Reports > Forms.

Lead Source Tracking in Google Analytics

Let’s see which source drove the most leads to our site.

We are heading across to our Google Analytics account under Behavior > Events > Top Events. Click on Form.

Under Event Action select conversions.

All the forms submitted by visitors are now available and you can click on the form that piques your interest and find its source.

Next click the Secondary dimension dropdown menu and select Source/Medium. This shows you all the sources where visitors came from and completed your form.

If you’re like me and are interested in the traffic other websites send to your website then use the advanced filter.

Click advance, select Include > Source / Medium > Containing, enter your referral in the last field and click Apply.

Now you have on display your referral sources for your completed forms. You can do the same thing for other sources to get a better understanding of your conversion sources.
